The more you understand reality, the harder it is to live.

Vasopressin Promoter Influences Emotional Attachment

In male rodents (voles), differences in the gene for the promoter for the vasopressin receptor, determines monogamy or polygamy.  Interestingly, the same effect is also similar in humans.  Human males are more likely to be in committed stable relationships if they have one of the two promoters.  Why is this not on 23andMe?</description>

In the aforementioned article, I feel something basic is overlooked.  Empathy is instinctive and not something you have to work at.  If you have the empathy instinct, life often requires the opposite: as there are times you have to work at not having it.</description>
